Leader of Yemen’s Ansarullah movement Abdul-Malik al-Houthi has warned the United States that there are more options which the country will use should Washington continue its attacks on Yemen, after the Arab country targeted an American aircraft carrier in the Red Sea.
Al-Houthi issued the warning on Sunday night, hours after the Yemeni army said it had targeted USS Harry S. Truman and its accompanying warships with 18 ballistic and cruise missiles and a drone in retaliation for dozens of airstrikes the U.S. launched a day earlier on multiple locations across Yemen.
The U.S. launched the “blatant aggression” after Yemen pledged several days ago that it would ban the passage of any Israeli-linked in the Red and Arabian Seas unless the regime lifts its siege on Gaza, which it imposed on March 2 to pressure Hamas to accept its own terms of conditions for a ceasefire in Gaza.
The Ansarullah leader said that the U.S.’s attacks on Yemen are aimed at supporting Israel, emphasizing that Washington will fail to achieve its goal of pressuring Yemen to abandon its “moral commitment” towards Gaza, Yemen’s September 26 news website reported.
Yemen will reciprocate if it faces an escalation of attacks, and will respond to the U.S. by targeting its aircraft carriers and warships, and blocking the passage of the “enemy’s vessels,” al-Houthi warned.
“We will use more options if the U.S. aggression continues,” he stressed.
Al-Houthi also warned about the United States’ attempt to “turn the seas into a battlefield,” which he said will impact international shipping.
The Ansarullah leader described the U.S. and the Israeli regime as the root causes of menace and threat for the entire West Asia region and the world, saying that all countries should understand who is threatening maritime transport.
He further said that Yemen’s decision to block the “Zionist enemy’s vessels” is aimed at supporting the Palestinian nation, and specifically targets Israeli ships in order to pressure the regime to open crossings and allow humanitarian aid into the strip.
The Yemeni resistance leader deplored what he called the weak stance of many Islamic countries, particularly in the Arab world, regarding the issue of Gaza. He said that those countries have not taken any practical measures to prevent the hunger imposed on Gaza residents by the Israeli regime that is now seeking to deny them water as well.
Warning about significant plots and aggressive projects by the U.S. and Israel against the Islamic world, al-Houthi said that Americans and Israelis pursue their colonial, cruel, and criminal objectives.
The U.S. intends to force the entire region to submit to the Israeli enemy, impose its influence, and violate the sovereignty of the Muslim nations, he said, emphasizing that Yemen cannot accept these conspiracies.
