Tehran, IRNA – India’s foreign minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, has expressed confidence that the “deep-rooted” relations between Tehran and New Delhi will continue to grow.
In a post on his X account on Saturday, Jaishankar thanked his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araqchi, for his “warm wishes on 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Iran.”
“Our deep-rooted ties are driven by historical linkages. Confident that our cooperation will continue to grow in times to come,” he added.
Araqchi had earlier celebrated the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Iran and India, saying in a post on X that the two nations’ shared history and cultural bonds “go back centuries if not millennia, joining our nations at the hip.”
“These ties have been paramount in paving the way for mutual growth & cooperation,” he wrote. “Looking forward to further strengthening our partnership for the prosperity of our nations.”
Back in 1950, Iran and India signed a friendship treaty, three years after New Delhi declared its independence from the British colonial rule.
