Syria enacts curfew in western Syria following internal clashes

Tehran, IRNA — The Syrian officials have  enforced curfew in the provinces of Latakia and Tartus in western Syria over recent internal clashes.  

Syria has imposed a curfew in the northwestern port town of Latakia and the port city of Tartous after fierce clashes between fighters linked to Syria's ousted leader Bashar al-Assad and government forces, Reuters reported on Friday.

Over 70 people were killed and dozens wounded in Syria as fierce clashes erupted between government security forces and fighters aligned with al-Assad, according to Al Mayadeen.

The violence intensified on Thursday in the coastal town of Jableh and surrounding villages, leaving at least 48 dead.

Heavy fighting is now concentrated around Jableh, especially at the highway entrance.

There have also been reports of clashes in the cities of Homs and Aleppo, BBC reported.
