The historical and cultural commonalities between Iran and Uzbekistan serve as a foundation for enhancing bilateral cooperation, says a top Iranian official.

Tehran, IRNA – A senior Iranian official has highlighted the historical and cultural commonalities between Iran and Uzbekistan as a foundation for enhancing bilateral cooperation.

In a Thursday meeting with Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Tehran, Fariddin Nasriyev, Ali Najafi Khoshroudi, the deputy for international affairs and regional cooperation at the office of the vice president, discussed ways to strengthen economic relations between the two countries.

According to the vice presidency’s media office, the two sides emphasized the need to establish necessary mechanisms to increase trade volume and facilitate economic exchanges.

They also discussed plans for high-level visits between officials of both nations and the holding of the Iran-Uzbekistan Joint Economic Commission as effective steps toward reinforcing bilateral ties.
