Several people injured after car rams into a crowd in German city of Mannheim

Several people have been injured after a car rammed into a crowd in the German city of Mannheim.

People have been urged to avoid the entire city center of Mannheim and take a wide detour as police race to the scene. 

Police confirmed there is currently an operation in Mannheim city center, in the area around Wasserturm and Plankenkopf.
