Indonesia will soon issue visas to Palestinian students who hold scholarships and were unable to attend classes because of the war in Gaza.

The Indonesian government has announced plans to issue and renew visas for Palestinian students with scholarships to study in Indonesia who are currently unable to travel or continue their education due to the ongoing war in Gaza.

According to the Jakarta Globe, Indonesia will streamline the visa process for Palestinian students whose visas expired during the war or those who were unable to enter the country.

Yusril Ihza Mahendra, Indonesia’s coordinating minister for human rights, immigration, correctional, and legal affairs, made the announcement on Sunday.

The issue was addressed during a meeting between Minister Yusril and Zuhair Al-Shun, the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia. The two officials also discussed Indonesia’s ongoing support for Palestine’s bid for full membership in the United Nations.

Yusril emphasized the critical situation in Gaza, noting that an Indonesia-funded hospital in the enclave has become inoperable due to extensive damage from relentless Israeli attacks.
