Iran’s special envoy attends inauguration of new Uruguayan president

Issa Kameli conveys a message of congratulations and friendship to Uruguay’s new government under President Orsi.

Tehran, IRNA – Issa Kameli, assistant to the Foreign Minister and director-general of the Foreign Ministry’s Department of the Americas, has attended the swearing-in ceremony of Yamandú Orsi, the new president of Uruguay.

Kameli represented the Iranian government as a special envoy of President Masoud Pezeshkian at the inauguration held in the capital, Montevideo, on Saturday.

During the event, he met with Mario Lubetkin, Uruguay's newly-appointed foreign minister, to convey congratulations and express friendship from the Iranian government and people. He expressed hope for the continued expansion of relations between the two countries.

Additionally, Kameli held discussions with the political and economic directors of the Uruguayan Foreign Ministry, exchanging views on bilateral ties and major developments in Latin America and West Asia.
