Tehran, IRNA – President Masoud Pezeshkian has warned that Iran was in the midst of an “all-out economic war,” as lawmakers moved to impeach his economy minister.
The president made the remarks while addressing Iranian lawmakers during an impeachment session for Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Abdolnaser Hemmati. Pezeshkian said Iran was facing an “all-out economic war” being waged by enemies to stir economic turmoil and despair in the country.
“Our enemy seeks to sow division among us. We must not allow their goals to be realized,” he said. The president emphasized that his government was committed to ensuring the Iranian people face less economic hardships.

Minister Hemmati appeared before Parliament this morning to defend his record before lawmakers. He was later ousted from his post following a vote of no confidence against him.
