Turkiye rebukes Israeli criticism for hosting Hamas chief

Tehran, IRNA-The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkiye has responded to the Israeli criticism of Ankara’s reception to Ismail Haniyeh, political bureau chief of the Palestinian Hamas Resistance Movement, saying the Zionist regime should be ashamed of genocide in Gaza.

You should be ashamed of murdering of 35,000 Palestinians, the Turkish ministry said according to media reports quoted by IRNA, in response to the foreign minister of the Zionist regime, who called Haniyeh's reception by Recep Tayyip Erdogan a source of shame and embarrassment.

The Hamas political bureau chief accompanying a delegation of the resistance movement arrived in Turkey on Friday evening (April 31) and met with Erdogan on Saturday.

During the meeting, the Turkish president emphasized that his country will continue its efforts to draw the world's attention to the oppression of Palestinians by the Zionist regime.

He also said that Turkiye has taken its own step by imposing trade restrictions on the Zionist regime, adding that “Israel will one day pay the price of oppression against the Palestinians”.

On Wednesday, Haniyeh also met and consulted with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who had traveled to Qatar. On the same day, Erdogan at the weekly meeting of his ruling Justice and Development Party announced that Ankara will he hosting the head of the political bureau of Hamas.
