--Iran’s annual aluminum ingot output exceeds 635,000 tons: IMIDRO
Iran’s production of aluminum ingot in the previous Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2023 to March 19, 2024) surpassed 635,000 tons, showing an about one percent rise compared to a year earlier.
Iran’s four major aluminum production companies produced 635,597 tons of aluminum ingot during the 12 months, the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) added, Tasnim News Agency reported. In this period, Iran’s Alumina Production Company produced 222,138 tons of alumina powder, 374,106 tons of aluminum hydrates and 598,599 tons of bauxite, it added. According to the available statistics, the country had produced about 632,166 tons of aluminum ingots from March 21, 2022, to March 20, 2023.

An official at the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) said the country’s export of products to Russia and Belarus in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 19, 2024) registered a considerable growth in volume and value.
Head of the Central Asia, Caucasus and Russia Office of the TPOI Akbar Godari said Iran exported 2.185 million tons of non-oil products, valued at $946 million, to Russia from March 21, 2023, to March 19, 2024, registering a hike in value and volume compared to a year earlier.
-- Over 63m accommodations recorded during Nowruz holiday
Iranian Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ali Asghar Shalbafian, announced the accommodation statistics during the long Nowruz holiday of the new Persian year.
From March 14 to April 12, 63 million and 647 thousand overnight stays were recorded, indicating a 5% increase compared to the same period last year. Official accommodations saw a 2.5% increase.

Species living in 17 mountains around the world are facing the risk of extinction due to the rapid rate of warming attributed to climate change. However, the establishment of additional meteorological monitoring stations in mountainous areas globally is essential for a deeper understanding of the extent of these threats, according to a study published in Nature.
An international team led by Research Fellow Sheng-Feng Shen from the Biodiversity Research Center of Academia Sinica in Taiwan developed a new methodology to estimate climate velocities, highlighting 17 mountain regions at significant risk due to global warming, including Brazilian highlands, Iran-Pakistan region, Western America and Mexico, Mediterranean basin and Northeast Asia.

Iran’s Commercial Attache in Afghanistan Hussein Roustaei at the Iranian Embassy in Afghanistan said that Iran exported over $1.8 billion of non-oil products to the neighboring country in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 19, 2024), registering a 13% growth compared to a year earlier.
Roustaei said the country exported $1.871 billion of non-oil products to Afghanistan from March 21, 2023, to March 19, 2024, showing more than 13.6 percent hike compared to a year before.

-- Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers win two golds at Asian championships
Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers Naser Alizadeh and Amin Mirzazadeh claimed two gold medal in the 2024 Asian Wrestling Championships on Monday in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Mirzazadeh showed once again how unstoppable he is from par terre, as he rolled Minseok Kim (KOR) two times for all the points he needed in a 5-0 victory in the 130kg final.
“I really practiced hard for this and tried a lot to be able to create a significant difference with the other competitors and it makes me happy,” Mirzazadeh said.
-- Art Bureau exhibition showcases photos of Syrian people after war
A photo exhibition titled “Return; photos of life after the war in Syria” opened on Sunday at the Iran Photographers Gallery No. 2, based in Art Bureau in Tehran.
According to the public relations office of the Art Bureau, 49 photos by five Iranian photographers are displayed on the walls of the gallery, each referring to a specific mood of the Syrian people after the war.

A commemoration ceremony for the late Iranian director Kioumars Pourahmad is scheduled to take place at the Seifollah Dad Hall of the House of Cinema in Tehran on Wednesday evening.
During the ceremony, Iranian cineastes Abbas Yari, Abolhassan Davoudi, Mohsen Amiryousefi, and Maziar Fekri Ershad will discuss Kioumars Pourahmad and his contributions to Iranian cinema.
