Iran expected UNSC to condemn Zionist aggression against Iranian consulate: Amirabdollahian

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has said that Iran expected the UN Security Council to condemn a last week Zionist strike against the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

The foreign minister made the remarks in a phone conversation on Monday with his Slovenian counterpart Tanja Fajon where they discussed the latest developments in the region, especially what is going on in Palestine.

Amirabdollahian noted that the US and two European countries in the UN Security Council prevented a mere statement in condemnation of the Zionist assault on Iranian diplomatic mission.

The Slovenian foreign minister, for her part, highlighted Iran’s role in de-escalation in the region.

Underlining her country’s efforts to establish peace in Gaza and help the dispatch of humanitarian supplies to the besieged Palestinian territory, Fajon said that Slovenia believes that establishment of ceasefire in the only way to de-escalation.

The two foreign ministers stressed the need to preserve peace and stability in the region.
