Islamic Jihad leader: Enemy retreating in Gaza, hasn’t achieved goals

Tehran, IRNA – Secretary General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement Ziad al-Nakhalah has said that the Zionist regime has not only failed to achieve its goals in Gaza but it has also been forced to retreat after nearly seven months of devastating war in the besieged Palestinian territory.

“The enemy has not only reached none of its goals, but it is retreating day by day”, al-Nakhalah said on Saturday during an interview with the official website of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

“The resistance front in Gaza has a strong presence both on the battlefield and in terms of politics”, the Islamic Jihad leader said, adding that enemy forces have suffered huge losses by resistance fighters.

He also pointed out to the resilience of resistance groups in Gaza, which he said led to the ongoing negotiations over a ceasefire following the enemy’s previous threats to destroy the resistance.

Al-Nakhalah noted that if the enemy refuses to accept the resistance’s conditions during the negotiations, Palestinians would still be ready for fighting in the long-term and even with a better performance.

US trying to save Israeli regime

Al-Nakhalah, at the same time, criticized the West over its stance in the ceasefire talks, saying that it is not after a solution for Gaza but seeks a solution for Israel, adding that the US is trying to save the regime.

On Israeli threats of a ground invasion of Rafah, where more than a million Palestinians have taken refuge, the Islamic Jihad leader said that the resistance is not afraid of the offensive and will confront the enemy.

He also expressed gratitude towards Iran and Yemen, as well as the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement for their support to the Palestinians in Gaza.
