Terrorists seeking to disrupt development in Iran’s impoverished southeast: Interior minister

Zahedan, IRNA – Referring to plans underway for the development of Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan, Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi has said that the terrorist groups are seeking to hamper the development plans.

Vahidi made the remarks while speaking to reporters in a visit to the province on Saturday.

He said that the security conditions and recent attacks in the province are under investigation.

Terrorist attacks are reported across Sistan-Baluchestan Province every now and then, in one of the most recent instances of which five Iranian police officers were killed and two others were wounded.

Another police officer has also been killed in clashes with drug traffickers earlier today.
