According to AFP, Gahr Store made the remark in a joint press conference with his Spanish counterpart Pedro Sánchez in Norway’s capital Oslo on Friday.
The Norwegian prime minister said, "Norway is ready to make a decision on recognizing a Palestinian state."
He noted that his government has not yet determined a firm timetable, but Norway will coordinate with "like-minded countries" to speed up efforts to recognize the Palestinian state.
In November, Norway's parliament approved a government proposal to recognize an independent Palestinian state.
Some member states of the European Union such as Spain, Ireland, Slovenia, and Malta also voiced readiness to recognize the Palestinian state.
Although, the EU did not support the move to recognize the Palestinian state unanimously, Ireland and Spain have repeatedly announced their readiness since the onset of war in Gaza.
Spain’s prime minister vowed in November that his government would prioritize the recognition of a Palestinian state.
