At least five police officers martyred in terrorist attack in southeast Iran

Zahedan, IRNA – Clashes between Iranian police and armed terrorists have left at least five officers killed and two others wounded in Sib and Souran district in southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan.

Jaish al-Adl terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Deputy Security and Law Enforcement Governor of Sistan and Baluchistan Alireza Marhamati said that the operation to find the perpetrators of this terrorist incident continues by police and security agents.

"The Jaish-e-Zalum terrorist group registers in its own name every incident that occurs by criminals and disrupters of order and security in order to magnify it," he added.

In a statement on Thursday, the IRGC reported that several terrorists and armed miscreants affiliated with foreign spy services simultaneously attacked five military and public sites in Rask and Chabahar counties during the early hours of the day, with the intention of disrupting the security of the people. However, their plans were thwarted by the wisdom, patience, and intelligence of the security forces.

The statement further revealed that all 18 terrorists were killed, and unfortunately, 10 members of the security forces were martyred, while some others sustained injuries.

In a warning the IRGC has told regional and trans-regional enemies, terrorist groups, and armed individuals hired by spy services that Iran’s national security and the people’s peace in every part of the country are red lines, adding that security forces will respond decisively to any threatening elements.

The Jaish al-Adl terror group has in the past months carried out similar attacks in Iran. In January, the group attacked a police station in Rask, killing a policeman. And a month earlier, it killed 11 police officers in the same city.
