In a post on X on Tuesday, Amirabdollahian said that he held "important discussions" with his Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his counterpart, Faisal Mekdad, as well as the Syrian national security advisor on Monday.
"In addition to discussing regional and global developments, especially the important issue of Palestine and Gaza, the agreements between the presidents of the two countries were reviewed, and as a result, the dimensions of expanding bilateral relations, including economically, were assessed as satisfying and forward-moving," he wrote.
The foreign minister also said that he and his Syrian counterpart opened Iran's new consulate in Damascus after the previous building hosting the consular section of the Iranian Embassy was destroyed in an Israeli missile attack last Monday.
He added that they also visited a young diplomat from the Syrian Foreign Minister who has lost one of his legs in the Israeli strike.
