Amirabdollahian inaugurates Iran's new consulate in Syria

Damascus, IRNA - Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has officially inaugurated the new Iranian consulate in Damascus, after visiting the site where a senior Iranian military advisor in Syria was assassinated by the Israeli regime last week.

Amirabdollahian, who is on an official visit to Syria, visited the previous building of Iran's consulate in Damascus, which was destroyed in an Israeli terrorist strike last Monday.

Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior commander and military advisor of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) to Syria, and six other Iranians were martyred in the attack.

Amirabdollahian officially inaugurated the new consular section of the Iranian Embassy in a new building adjacent to the previous one.

He also visited one of the individuals who was injured in the Israeli attack on Iran's diplomatic premises last week.

The foreign minister arrived in Damascus earlier in the day after a visit to Oman and met with his Syrian counterpart, Faisal Mekdad, and President Bashar al-Assad.
