Dr. Ghiasi, who is also an electrical and computer engineering professor at the University of California, Davis, was granted senior membership as part of the NAI 2024 class of emerging innovators, according to a press release by the College of Engineering Communications of the UC Davis on Saturday.
Senior memberships are granted to active faculty, scientists, and administrators who have made great contributions to the patenting, licensing, and commercialization of technologies that have real-world impacts or promise positive change to the welfare of society, the report said.
The academy's senior membership also recognizes an individual's strength in educating and mentoring the next generation of inventors, the report further said.
It added that Ghiasi's research focuses on embedded computing technologies, which are computer systems designed to complete one function under specific constraints.
The Iranian national has worked on Transabdominal Fetal Oximetry technology, known as TFO, which is a non-invasive monitor for directly measuring the blood oxygen saturation levels of a baby during labor and delivery.
