“After Israel’s airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus today, Iranians have turned to the UN Security Council to condemn this action,” Dmitry Polyanskiy wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday night.
“Following their letter we have requested an open briefing of the UN Security Council. The Maltese presidency has scheduled it for 3:00 PM New York time on April 2nd,” he added.

On Monday night, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) confirmed the martyrdom of generals Mohammad Reza Zahedi and Mohammad Hadi Haj Rahimi and five of their companions in the attack.
