Families of Iranian martyrs of Bosnian War honored in Tehran

Tehran, IRNA - Families of Iranian martyrs of the Bosnian War have been honored by the friendship association between Iran and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

A ceremony hosted by the National Museum of the Islamic Revolution and Holy Defense in Tehran on Monday paid tribute to the Iranian martyrs of the Bosnian War and honored their families.

Nijaz Čardaklija, Bosnia's new ambassador to Iran, hailed the depth of friendship and brotherhood between Iran and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The Bosnian War was a conflict that took place in Bosnia and Herzegovina between 1992 and 1995 involving multiple parties, including Bosnian Muslims, Serbs, and Croats. The war resulted in widespread ethnic cleansing, genocide, and atrocities against Bosnian Muslims.

The Srebrenica massacre in 1995, where more than 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys were killed, is one of the most tragic events of the war and has been recognized as an act of genocide.
