According to AFP, the global anti-poverty charity published a report on Sunday night, pointing to the Israeli regime’s act as a move against international humanitarian laws.
The report said the regime defied a January order by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to enhance aid in Gaza and failed in its responsibility to protect civilians in the besieged strip.
Oxfam Middle East and North Africa director Sally Abi Khalil said that the ICJ order should have shocked Israeli officials to change course, but since then conditions in Gaza have actually deteriorated.
“Israeli authorities are not only failing to facilitate the international aid effort but are actively hindering it,” Abi Khalil said, adding, “We believe that Israel is failing to take all measures within its power to prevent genocide.”
According to the non-governmental organization, Israeli authorities arbitrarily eliminate “dual-use” items such as backup generators and torches; so, the list of rejected items is overwhelming and ever-changing.
Oxfam also noted that “unjustifiably inefficient” inspection rules were causing aid trucks trying to get into Gaza to be stuck in queues for 20 days on average.
The organization further announced that 2,874 trucks entered Gaza in February, representing only “20 percent of the daily average” before the onset of the war.
Some 31,676 Palestinians have been killed since October 7, when the Israeli regime launched a genocidal war on Gaza after a surprise operation by the Palestinian resistance groups against the occupying entity.
