Secretary-General of the High Council for Human Rights of the Islamic Republic of Iran Kazem Gharibabadi made the remarks in a meeting with Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Gilbert F. Houngbo on Saturday.
Gharibabadi called on the International Labour Organization to pay special heed to the important issue of sanctions, expressing readiness to expand cooperation with the ILO.
He also pointed out that the Islamic Republic attaches importance to the ILO as a non-political entity, urging the organization to maintain its technical approach.
The official also referred to the fact that Iran is one of the founders of the ILO and played a key role in supporting and upgrading the lifestyle of workers in the Islamic country.
Houngbo, for his part, welcomed further development of collaborations between Iran and the ILO, expressing readiness to pay a visit to the country.
Both sides also discussed the unbearable situation in the Gaza Strip, and the Iranian side called on the ILO to pay special attention to the atrocities committed by the Israeli regime against Palestinians, in particular workers and their families.
