Iranian, Russian, Chinese military units intercept, destroy air targets in joint drills

Tehran, IRNA – Iran, Russia and China have continued their joint drills in the northern Indian Ocean, intercepting and destroying air targets during the latest stage of the exercises.

According to the spokesman of the drills, Rear Admiral Mostafa Tajeddini, the operations to fire at air targets at night and during the day were successfully conducted as part of the Maritime Security Belt 2024.

He also said that both types of operations require exact coordination and orders, adding that the nocturnal operation is among significant maritime maneuvers.

Russian and Chinese warships arrived in Iran's territorial waters on Tuesday to participate in the joint naval drills whose main phase kicked off later that day.

The exercises are aimed at consolidating security in the region and expanding multilateral cooperation among the participating countries to show their ability to jointly support world peace, maritime security, and to create a maritime group in the future.
