Serious action needed to end Gaza women’s plight: Iran deputy president

New York, IRNA – Iran’s Deputy President for Women and Family Affairs, Ensiyeh Khazali has called for serious actions to end the plight of the women of Gaza, saying Islamic countries must take coordinated actions with regard to the besieged strip.

Khazali made the remarks during a meeting with Turkish Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas on the sidelines of the 68th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in New York on Tuesday.

“We have a duty to take serious action regarding the women of Gaza,” she said. “I hope that countries, especially the Islamic countries, will put an end to the difficult conditions of the people of Gaza in a coordinated measure.”

She also appreciated the Turkish minister’s positions on the issue of family and retaining its natural form.

For her part, Goktas said Gaza and Palestine are sacred to Turkey.

“We stood by them years ago and we are still standing by them and with this approach, we sent humanitarian aid to them through Egypt,” she stated.

The Israeli regime waged a genocidal war on Gaza on October 7 after a retaliatory operation against the occupying entity by the Gaza-based resistance groups. The Ongoing war has so far killed more than 31,000 Palestinians in Gaza and injured some 73,000 others.
