Senior Iranian, Russian officials discuss regional issues

Tehran, IRNA - Iran's Foreign Minister’s Senior Advisor for Special Political Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji and Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Kinschak have reviewed regional issues in Gaza, Syria, Yemen and Libya.

Kinschak who traveled to Tehran with the accompanying delegation met and held talks with Khaji in the Iranian capital city of Tehran on Monday.

The two sides discussed the latest developments in the region, especially the Zionist regime's crimes against the oppressed people of Gaza, as well as issues related to Syria, Yemen, and Libya.

They discussed the importance of ongoing and broad consultations on regional matters, exchanging opinions on the recent developments in Syria, including the political and field status, and strategies that can help to enhance the economic and humanitarian condition. They also talked about the continuation of the Syrian political process.

During the meeting, Khaji described the brutal attacks of the Zionist regime against the oppressed people of Gaza and the killing of thousands of women and children as a result of the US support from the Zionist regime.

He added that the Zionist regime has achieved nothing but the brutal killing of civilians and committing crimes against humanity, and has expanded its military attacks and aggressions to Syria and Lebanon in the light of the passivity and silence of international bodies.

Referring to the latest development in Yemen, Khaji warned of the destructive impact of illegal US and Britain attacks on peace efforts in the country.

The two sides stressed the importance of preserving Libya's unity, solidarity, and sovereignty, expressing hope that the political crisis in Libya would end with the Libyan people's will.
