Iran plans dam building to prevent more floods in southeast: Raisi

Zahedan, IRNA – Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi has promised that authorities will pursue dam-building projects to prevent future flooding in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.

He made the remarks during a visit to the flood-hit areas in southern districts of the province, adding that his administration will put on agenda infrastructural projects, including dam-building, in Sistan and Baluchestan province.

The president argued that rainwater storage should be managed in this province; so, the residents of this province will have enough sweet water throughout the year instead of devastating floods.

Addressing flood-hit people in southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province, Raisi expressed satisfaction with the construction of proper houses in the highlands, which have not been affected by the floods severely.

He also pointed to the renovation of flood-stricken roads as an important issue, noting that Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash will follow up reconstruction of damaged roads.

The chief executive also expressed gratitude to provincial officials who made all-out efforts to assist flood victims and manage relief and rescue operations.
