Hamas says to continue truce talks up to Ramadan

Tehran, IRNA – Hamas will only keep on ceasefire negotiations until the upcoming fasting month of Ramadan, an official with the Palestinian resistance movement said, noting that the group will not accept any conditions and dictates of the United States and the Israeli regime.

The Hamas official told London-based news outlet Al-Araby Al-Jadeed on condition of anonymity that the deadline for talks on prisoner swap is March 10, adding that the resistance will not take a step in the direction that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has planned with the aim of using the lives of Palestinian people as a tool to reduce pressures imposed on his cabinet.

Therefore, the source added, the continuation of indirect talks depends on the other party’s readiness to accept Palestinians’ demands.

“We informed mediators that this round of talks in Cairo is the last opportunity before the month of Ramadan,” the Hamas official said, stressing that the decision will not change if an agreement is not reached by then.

Hamas and other resistance groups will not provide any information on Israeli captives in Gaza if the regime does not pay the price of the agony of the people in the besieged strip and if an all-inclusive ceasefire is not implemented, the official said, adding that Hamas has clear demands, which should be met by the occupiers to pave the way for the release of their captives.

Meanwhile, Israeli media outlets have reported that Netanyahu’s cabinet would not take part in any negotiations until Hamas publishes a list of the living captives.

The Israeli regime claims that there are 134 captives, including 31 dead bodies and six American nationals, in the hands of the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip.
