Before leaving for Algeria late on Friday, President Raisi appreciated the faithful services that the organizers and observers of the elections offered to the voters.
Elections for the 12th term of the Majlis (the Iranian Parliament) and the 6th term of the Assembly of Experts were held across Iran on March 1.
Raisi also said relations with Africa and the Islamic African states have a special place in the Islamic Republic’s foreign policy.
Concerning his visit to the African country, the president said it is taking place at the invitation of his Algerian counterpart to attend the 7th summit of heads of state and government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) slated for March 2 in the north African state.
He said he would meet with the participating heads of state in Algeria.
Raisi also highlighted the bilateral meeting between the presidents of the two countries after 16 years and the talks on trade and energy relations as the topics for discussion in Algeria.
He further pointed out that the role Iran and Algeria play in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has brought the two countries closer together in the Islamic world.
Both Iran and Algeria are against unilateralism and share a common stance on supporting the oppressed yet powerful people of Palestine and Gaza, he stressed.
