Iranian scholars meet Iraqi PM in Baghdad

Tehran, IRNA – A delegation of researchers, analysts, and directors from the Iranian research center for Iraq and the region have met with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani in Baghdad.

During the meeting, the Iranian scholars shared their perspectives and posed questions about significant developments in Iraq, particularly in relation to the broader region and Iran.

The discussions covered several topics, including the security agreement between Tehran and Baghdad, Iraq’s role in promoting regional stability and independence, addressing challenges within the Islamic world, and the situation in Gaza.

Both sides underscored the importance of enhancing trade, economic, and political ties between Iran and Iraq.

The Iraqi prime minister expressed his country’s commitment to strengthening relations with Iran. He highlighted the steps taken to implement the security agreement and called for an Iranian delegation to verify these measures.

Al Sudani also emphasized the substantial commonalities between the two nations, particularly in social aspects, which position them as allies.

Furthermore, Al Sudani reaffirmed Iraq’s support for the Palestinian people and emphasized the country’s stance on developments in Gaza.
