Iran’s Fisheries Organization has already started negotiations with the UNIDO to transfer advanced technologies in the realm of fishing, Hosseini said, according to a report published on Wednesday.
Over 45% of Iran’s fishing has been dedicated to tuna, he said, adding that the country, with more than a thousand vessels, ranks first in the western Indian Ocean.
The official further said the move will help supply the fishery products at lower costs.
The measure comes as Iran seeks to maximize its potential in the fishery industry and diversify its related products in the field.
The extended Iranian coastline, together with a diversified climate suitable for various types of aquaculture, makes Iran a large producer of fish in the region.
