Priesner made the remarks in a meeting of the Asian and Pacific Centre for the Development of Disaster Information Management (APDIM), hosted by Iran’s Plan and Budget Organization, on Tuesday.
Senior officials from Iranian ministries and government departments with responsibilities in the field of crisis management were present in the meeting.
Priesner said in the meeting that Iran has relied on years of experience and scientific progress to improve its disaster reduction strategies as well as its crisis management capacities.
He said the progress is quite visible in planning, regulations and safety standards that Iran has introduced in recent years to tackle issues related to disasters and crises.
The UN official also appreciated Iran’s support for APDIM and its programs for disaster reduction in the region.
Priesner said the UN is ready to expand its cooperation with Iran in the field of crisis management and disaster reduction to help the country’s social and economic progress.
