Chinese journalist slams West’s media hegemony against Iran

Tehran, IRNA – Li Jiannan, the manager of the Tehran Bureau of China Media Group (CMG) has criticized the West for its media hegemony against Iran, which he said is aimed at damaging relations between the two countries.

“I think both countries are facing fake news and we call it media hegemony by some Western countries,” Jiannan told IRNA on the sidelines of the 24th Iran Media Expo in Tehran on Wednesday.

“Actually, they have too much misunderstanding of China and Iran. Our media job is to send facts about what is happening in both countries”, he noted.

“I have been living in Iran for five years and before I came here, I read news on Western websites but I saw a different Iran. They are spreading threatening news about what is happening in Iran, but I found that Iran is a very beautiful and safe country,” Jiannan said, also lauding the Iranian people for their hospitality and friendly vibes.

Elaborating on his experience of attending the Iran Media Expo, he said that it is the first time that he is participating in the exhibition, calling it “a great pleasure to be invited by the Iranian government to make an exhibition here.”

“Iran and China have very good relations not only in the political field but also in economy and culture,” the Chinese journalist said.

“We can also use our experiences to let the Chinese people know more about Iran and facts about the country,” he added.

Also in his interview, he referred to talks that took place between the IRNA managing director and the head of China Media Group on the sidelines of the exhibition. Jiannan described the talks as fruitful, saying that the IRNA and CMG officials discussed future relations between their organizations.

“After that conversation, we realized that there are lots of commonalities for cooperation in the future,” Jiannan reiterated, emphasizing that they are “ready to cooperate more with IRNA.”
