Ulyanov wrote on his X social network on Tuesday morning about the landmark deal between Iran and five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany.
A year ago, Western analysts and officials raised a lot of speculations about the second plan regarding Iran's nuclear program, he said, adding that “Russia was rights and it always stressed that there was no realistic plan and alternative to the JCPOA”.
Iran agreed to signing the JCPOA in 2014 with the aim of canceling cruel sanctions imposed by the United States and its western allies on different pretexts.
Many reports then called Iran a responsible country implementing its obligations as was confirmed by the International Atomic Energy Agency in some 16 reports.
But former US President Donald Trump put cold water on the JCPOA after entering the White House, by unilaterally pulling his country out of the deal and re-imposing sanctions on Iran.
Speculation of the resumption of the JCPOA got momentum after Democratic President Joe Biden took office in 2021 who was critical to the unilateral action of his predecessor. But the Biden administration continued the so-called Trump-era maximum pressure policies against Iran.
Remaining signatories to the JCPOA have held eight rounds of talks in Vienna with the indirect presence of an American delegation. However, the outcome of the negotiations was delayed due to several factors, including contradictions and delay in decision-making as well as new demands from the US.
Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi has made it clear that the JCPOA is not the only agenda of his government but said the negotiations will continue depending on the West's toward Iran.
