Iran envoy for Afghanistan holds ‘constructive’ talks with EU counterpart

Tehran, IRNA -- Iran's Special Envoy for Afghanistan Hassan Kazemi-Qomi says he has held “very constructive” talks with his counterpart in the European Union.

The Iranian envoy made the announcement on Saturday on X, formerly known as Twitter.

He said that he had “frank but very constructive” discussions with the EU’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan Tomas Niklasson.  

Kazemi Qomi said he told the EU official that the bloc’s humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan should not be held “hostage to regional ties”.

The Iranian envoy provided no further details about his meeting with his EU counterpart.
