Dehghani, in response to a question of what stage Iran has reached to have its own VAR, he acknowledged that the system has already been developed using domestic know-how
“The video assistant referee has been designed and made taking into account its technological aspect and is ready to be used in football grounds is the country”, the report of IRNA Science and Education Group quoted him as saying.
He added that Iran-made VAR technology has already been tested and used in several sports venues successfully.
Dehghani said that the application of this indigenous technology requires official permits and approvals as well as the support of the Ministry of Sports and Youth.
Iran has so far been using two video assistant referee systems that were imported by the country's Football Federation. Iran delayed using the VAR during the matches due to western sanctions.
The US-led sanctions have had negative impact on the technological development of the country but they have provided an opportunity for Iranian experts to excel in scientific and technological domains.
