Zeifollah Al-Shami, spokesman for Yemen’s National Reconciliation Government, said on Wednesday that the Yemeni armed forces have solely targeted Israeli ships or vessels tied to the Zionist regime, including those from the US and UK, in the Red Sea.
Since the Israeli aggression began in Gaza in early October, the Yemeni armed forces have conducted a total of 33 operations in the Red Sea, targeting 17 Israeli ships as well as 14 and 3 American and British vessels respectively, he explained.
“The US and UK are militarizing the Red Sea and endangering international shipping to protect the Israeli ships,” he said.
The comments came as the US and UK on Wednesday carried out joint airstrikes against Yemeni targets in the strategic western province of Hudaydah for the second time since Tuesday.
The airstrikes are part of a campaign to pressure the Yemeni armed forces to halt their Red Sea attacks.
The Yemenis have so far been undeterred by the US-led aggression, vowing to continue the operations until the Israeli regime stops its genocidal war in Gaza.
