18th meeting of Iran-Armenia Joint Economic Commission opens in Tehran

Tehran, IRNA — The 18th meeting of Iran-Armenia Joint Economic Commission has kicked off in Tehran in a bid to further foster economic ties between the two countries.

The meeting, hosted by Iran’s Plan and Budget Organization (PBO), runs for two days.

Head of the PBO Public Relations and International Affairs Department Masoud Mirzaei, who was in attendance at the meeting, described Tehran-Yerevan political relations as good and said that economic ties should be also promoted to the level of political relations.

He said that Iran is seeking a roadmap to expand economic relations with Armenia in all areas, adding that all capacities will be used to achieve that goal.

Hayk Darbinyan, the Acting Head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry’s Department of Bordering Countries, attended the meeting as well.

He said that Armenia intends to expand economic relations with Iran and is making efforts to increase the volume of bilateral trade to $3 billion.
