According to Palestine's Sama news agency, Netanyahu has rejected the plan to agree with Hamas on the exchange of prisoners.
Israeli media after a new round of meeting on the Gaza ceasefire in Cairo, quoted an Israeli political source on Tuesday as saying that there was no change in the position of Hamas regarding the prisoner swap as part of the proposal for a deal.
Conflicting reports surfaced after US and Israeli spy chiefs attended a meeting with Qatari and Egyptian officials in Cairo to resume talks under a framework set in the Paris meeting late last month.
Before this, Hamas responded to the proposal for any potential three-phase deal and set a number of demands that included a complete stop in Israeli attacks, the withdrawal of soldiers from Gaza, reconstruction and prisoner exchange among others.
Meanwhile, an Israeli news channel reported on Tuesday night that the Israeli delegation led by the Mossad chief has left Cairo without any signs of progress in talks. Another Israeli news network said that the Israeli delegation attended the meeting upon a request by US President Joe Biden.
On the other hand, Al-Arabiya reported, quoting an informed source, that the current round of negotiations in Cairo will last 2 to 3 days.
According to this report, there were differences between political and military leaderships of the Zionist regime on some issues before the delegation left for Cairo and that caused the Israeli army chief not to attend the meeting.
Palestinian resistance movements have already accused the Israeli regime of not willing to agree to the Gaza ceasefire deal, with Hamas found saying that Netanyahu is buying time simply by presenting truce proposals.
