Israeli parliament advances bill to shutter foreign media outlets

Tehran, IRNA – The Israeli regime’s parliament (the Knesset) has voted in favor of a bill enabling the administration to censor foreign media.

According to The Times of Israel, the bill would enable the communications minister to close foreign media outlets and confiscate their equipment if the regime’s war minister identifies that their broadcasts pose “an actual harm” to the regime.

The bill, if passed into law, would pave the way for communications minister Shlomo Karhi to carry out his threat to shut down Al Jazeera, which he has claimed is working against the regime’s interests.

The occupying regime has mounted a violent crackdown on foreign media outlets since the start of its bloody war on the Gaza Strip.

It has killed over 120 journalists and media persons throughout the besieged strip since October 7, when it waged an all-out war on Gaza in response to an unprecedented, retaliatory operation by the Palestinian resistance.

So far, more than 28,300 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed in Gaza. The war has also left more than 67,900 others wounded.
