-- Many idle plants return to production: Spokesman

The Iranian government spokesman said many inactive industrial units in the country have resumed production activities since President Ebrahim Raisi assumed office in August 2021.
Ali Bahadori Jahromi said the current administration has taken effective steps in reactivating the stagnant industrial and production units in the country, reported Tasnim News Agency. According to a report from the Statistical Center of Iran (SCI), the country’s economy has registered a significant growth under the current administration’s term compared to the previous years, the spokesman added.

--  Iran among world’s top 10 countries in maritime sector: PMO

Iran’s maritime transport fleet is among the leading 10 countries worldwide, announced the chief executive of Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
Ali Akbar Safaei made the remarks in a conference on Iran’s Sea-based Economy with a focus on the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), adding that the presence of the international fleet with more than 80,000 vessels in the world, and the transit of more than 11,000 tons of goods is the main factor behind the integration of the economy.

--  China to finance Persian Gulf Bridge project

The Persian Gulf Bridge will be constructed on Qeshm Island using China’s financing scheme, announced the secretary of Iran’s Supreme Council of Free and Special Economic Zones
Hojatollah Abdolmaleki put the estimated cost needed for the completion of the construction operation of the bridge at $700 million.

--  ‘About Majnoon’ Wins Top Prize at Fajr Festival

The closing ceremony of the 42nd Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) was held in Tehran’s Milad Tower on Sunday. It was attended by Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Muhammad Mahdi Esmailee as well as a number of filmmakers, actors, actresses, directors of the festival and media figures.

Mojtaba Amini, the director of the 42nd FIFF, expressed his satisfaction with the festival’s success, highlighting the outstanding films showcased during the event.

--  IRICA: Iranian Firms Export Over $24bn of Non-Oil Products

The Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) has reported that over 100 Iranian companies exported 60.24 million tons of non-oil products, valued at $24.302 billion, to foreign companies in the first 10 months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2023).
In this period, 53 and 60 percent of the country’s total non-exports in weight and value were conducted by the 100 domestic exporters respectively.

--  CEO: NIOC to Sign $14bn Deals in South Pars by Yearend

The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) managing director Mohsen Khojastehmehr has announced nearly $14 billion contracts for developing oil and gas fields will be signed and a project for boosting pressure in the South Pars (SP) gas field will start by the end of this winter. Speaking in a Channel 1 TV program on the 45th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, Khojastehmehr added several private-sector contractors will help carry out the pressure-boosting project in the joint South Pars field.
According to the official, production from the South Pars field, which accounts for 70 percent of Iran’s gas output, has exceeded 700 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d).

--  Over 400 Iranian universities in Webometrics world ranking 2024 

 A total of 435 Iranian institutions are among 11,989 institutions ranked in Webometrics world ranking 2024. Tehran University is the top among Iranian institutions. Its ranking has improved from 305 in 2023 to 285 in 2024, Mehr news agency reported.

Tehran University of Medical Sciences (445), Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Science (606), Sharif University of Technology (639), Amirkabir University of Technology (792), Iran Science and Technology (890), Isfahan University of Medical Sciences (920), Iran Medical Sciences University (940), Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (940), and Shahid Beheshti University (967) are ranked second to tenth, respectively, in the country.

--  Taremi fails to meet expectations in AFC Asian Cup

 Mehdi Taremi was supposed to steal the show in the 2023 AFC Asian Cup and help Iran bring an end to their 48-year-old title drought but failed to live up to the expectations.

Taremi has been linked with a move to Serie A side Inter Milan and it seems the striker was distracted by the news during the Asian Cup. He scored three goals in the tournament, while he was a candidate to be the tournament’s best goalscorer.

--  Tourist arrivals surge by 52% in Iran's tourism boom: DM

 Ali-Asghar Shalbafian, the Deputy for Tourism at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts, has revealed a remarkable 52% increase in foreign tourist arrivals to Iran during the first 10 months of this year.

The revelation took place at the opening ceremony of the 17th Tehran International Tourism Exhibition on Monday. Shalbafian emphasized that a staggering 5.4 million foreign tourists visited Iran during this period, showcasing a substantial 52% growth compared to the same timeframe last year.
