Protesters in London decry Israeli bloodshed in Gaza

London, IRNA - Thousands of pro-Palestine supporters have staged a fresh rally in the British capital to demand an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Stripو following deadly airstrikes by the Zionist regime on the city of Rafah, located in southern part of the besieged Palestinian territory.

According to IRNA correspondent in London, the protesters gathered in front of the British Prime Minister's office and chanted slogans against Rishi Sunak and the leader of the opposition party over their stance on the Gaza war.

While chanting slogans such as "Shame on Rishi Sunak" and "Shame on Keir Starmer", the protesters demanded that the war on the oppressed and defenseless Palestinians must be stopped before it is too late.

The participants in the demonstration also emphasized that their position is different from that of the London government and they hold the Zionist regime and its supporters responsible for the crimes and massacres being committed in Gaza.

London and other British cities have witnessed dozens of such rallies in solidarity with the Palestinians and in denunciation of the Zionist regime’s brutalities in Gaza.

The latest protest followed the reports that Israeli warplanes have again targeted residential houses in the vicinity of the headquarters of the Palestinian Red Crescent in Rafah that along with the city of Khan Yunis has become a focal point of the regime\s bombing and shelling campaign in recent days.

So far, more than one hundred Palestinians have been confirmed dead over 230 others injured in the latest attack, with reports suggesting that the number of martyrs and wounded is increasing.

The Zionist regime keeps pressing ahead with its genocide in Gaza with the support of the West, the United States in particular, under the pretext of a surprise operation dubbed Al-Aqsa Storm that was launched by Palestinian resistance forces in response to the regime’s decades-long brutalities across Occupied Palestine.

More than 28,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed in over four months of Israeli onslaught on Gaza.

The attack on Rafah came amid Israeli plan for a possible ground invasion of the city that houses some 1.4 million Palestinians, including those displaced in Israeli strikes on other parts of Gaza.

Hamas, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and a number of European countries including France, England and the European Union have warned about the consequences of the Zionist regime's attack on Rafah.

The EU's foreign policy chief has reiterated his warning about the dangerous consequences of the Zionist regime's attack and expressed his concern over the deterioration of the situation in Rafah.

"Perhaps we should do more than expressing concern," Josep Borrell said on the sidelines of the European Union Development Ministers' meeting in Brussels.

He called on the bloc leaders to put pressure on Israel arguing that when they attack a populated area, people have no way to escape and Palestinians are bombarded while they have no way out.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas issued a statement and accused the administration of US President Joe Biden of accomplice in these crimes by giving the green light to the Zionist regime.

The Hamas statement also highlighted the Zionist regime’s failure to achieve its goals in the Gaza war. "What the Zionist regime and its criminal army were unable to achieve in more than four months, will never achieve in the future."
