Raisi: World Tourism Org. plays key role in introducing Iran tourism attractions

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has said that the World Tourism Organization can play a key role in introducing Iran’s tourism attractions and cultural capacities to countries around the world.

Raisi made the comment on Monday in Tehran as he hosted Zurab Pololikashvili, the secretary-general of the UN-affiliated World Tourism Organization.

The Iranian president hailed the “good cooperation” between Iran and the World Tourism Organization, saying that the organization can paly a key role in introducing Iranian tourism attractions and cultural capacities to countries in different parts of the world.

He also spoke about what he called an Iranophobia campaign pursued by certain Western countries, which he said seeks colonialist goals and is needed to be confronted.

Pololikashvili, on his part, criticized a propaganda campaign by Western media against Iran, and said that the country possesses good tourism capacities especially in health tourism.

Raisi and the UN top tourism official met on the sidelines of the 17th edition of Iran International Tourism and Related Industries Exhibition which is taking place Feb. 12-15.
