Export of Iran’s certain agricultural products to Russia up 500% y/y

Moscow, IRNA – Sergei Dankvert, the head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia, has said that his country’s import of certain agricultural products from Iran such as oranges, bell peppers, and lettuce increased by 500% in 2023 compared to the previous year.

Dankvert made the remark in a meeting with the Iranian Deputy Agriculture Minister Ali-Reza Peyman-Pak, Head of Iran Veterinary Organization Mojtaba Norouzi, as well as Iranian Ambassador Kazem Jalali, in Russia’s capital city Moscow.

According to the Russian official, the agricultural products that had been imported from Europe have been replaced by Iranian products, showing the high quality of Iran-produced items.

Peyman-Pak, for his part, said that the signing of a free trade agreement between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) on December 25, 2023, bolstered trade ties, in particular in agri-food trade. He also urged the Russian side to remove obstacles in the way of importing Iran-made products.
