Saudi envoy conveys messages of King, Crown Prince to President Raisi

Tehran, IRNA – Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Tehran Abdullah bin Saud Al-Enezi has handed over messages to Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, which were from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

According to an IRNA report on Thursday, the Iranian foreign minister received the Saudi ambassador at the Foreign Ministry in Tehran a day earlier.

In his message, the Saudi king replied to President Raisi’s letter on the ongoing developments in the Gaza Strip. The king and the crown prince also extended felicitations on the 45th victory anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution.

In the meeting, Amirabdollahian hailed the development of relations between the two countries, expressing hope that mutual cooperation is further boosted in all fields and at all levels, which he said would benefit the two sides and the whole region.

Al-Enzi, for his part, said that Saudi Arabia sees its ties with Iran as strategic not tactical, adding that he is tasked by the top leadership in Riyadh to promote relations with Iran in all fields.

The ambassador also noted that he will follow up technical problems related to Umrah Hajj flights, which have caused a delay for carrying Iranian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.

In September, Jeddah-based Arabic newspaper Okaz reported that President Raisi had sent separate letters to the Saudi king and crown prince, putting forward issues related to bilateral relations and ways to enhance mutual cooperation.

In November, the Iranian president also met a number of Saudi officials, including the crown prince, In Riyadh on the sidelines of a conference by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on the Gaza war.
