Iran was defeated 3-2 by Qatar in a seesaw match at Al Thumama Stadium in Doha on Wednesday.
Sardar Azmoun put Iran ahead in the early minutes of the game before Qatar rebounded with two goals from Jassem Gaber and Akram Afif in the first half.
Iran’s Alireza Jahanbakhsh scored from the penalty spot to equalize but Almoez Ali scored the winner for the Qataris to send them to the final of the Cup for a second time in a row.
Iran had lost to Japan in the semi-final of the previous round of the competition.
