Amirabdollahian made the remark on Wednesday in a ceremony marking the 45th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in the capital Tehran where foreign ambassadors and representatives were in attendance.
He said that the Supreme Leader and president of Iran have always advised the diplomatic apparatus to share the achievements of the Islamic Republic with all friends and aligned states.
The Iranian foreign minister further said that his country always tries to maintain its political independence and adhere to its foreign policy principles that call for boosting cooperation and interaction with neighboring countries, in particular Asian states.
He also referred to Iran’s mutual relations and agreements with other countries, noting that the Islamic Republic is determined to implement those accords, which have been reached with the help of foreign diplomats based in Tehran.
The administration of President Ebrahim Raisi strongly believes in diplomacy and negotiations, and has never distanced itself from the negotiating table to protect the interests of the Iranian nation, Amirabdollahian said, in reference to talks aimed at reviving the 2015 nuclear deal that went into disarray following the US withdrawal from the agreement in 2018 and the re-imposition of sanctions on Iran.
Those talks were stalled months after they were launched in April 2021 over US excessive demands, with the top diplomat now urging Washington to stop that practice and remain committed to results reached during the negotiations.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the foreign minister spoke about the Gaza war that began more than four months ago. He said that the Islamic Republic, since the beginning of the war, has said that conflict is not a solution and the Palestinian resistance cannot be eliminated.
