Israel recruits unskilled workers from India, elsewhere

Tehran, IRNA-Israeli media say the Zionist regime is hiring unskilled workers from India, Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan to deal with labor shortage due to the Gaza war.

The Times of Israel reported that Tel Aviv is seeking to attract some 65,000 foreign workers from these three countries for construction projects, including settlements in the occupied West Bank that were halted since the launch of a war on Gaza.

A spokesman for the regime’s Housing Ministry says he predicts that new groups of foreign workers will enter Israel in the coming weeks.

According to some media reports, tens of thousands of Indian workers are filling job centers across the country despite nearly four-month Israeli war on Gaza.

Applicants are hoping to earn far higher wages than they could at home, even if it means working in a war zone.

Based on a figure from India’s foreign ministry, there are currently 16,000 Indians working in Israel as the regime relies heavily on foreign labors in sectors such as agriculture, construction and care-giving.

Indian trade unions have, however, called on the government to terminate the labor agreement, arguing that it supports Israeli military actions in Gaza which amount to genocide.

But Indian workers argue that they are forced to go to occupied Palestine because the unemployment rate in his home country is very high.
