The Hamas official, whose name and position were not mentioned, told Al-Aqsa Network that consultation with other Palestinian groups is underway on the issues including stopping the war, rebuilding the Gaza Strip, and freeing Palestinian held in Israeli jails.
According to Al Jazeera, another Hamas official rejected the reports that the resistance movement has refused the ceasefire proposal.
“We deny the truth of the news published about the rejection of the ceasefire proposals”, he said, adding that the media should be careful and not fall into the trap of the Israeli media, whose aim is to confuse the Palestinians.
The statements come just days after Ali Baraka, the head of the Hamas National Relations Department outside Palestine announced conditions for accepting a Gaza ceasefire proposal.
"Our determining factors for [the exchange of captives] are the cessation of the conflict, the establishment of a ceasefire, the reopening of the Rafah crossing, and the commitment of Arab countries and the international community to rebuild the Gaza Strip”, Baraka was quoted by the Al-Mayadeen network on last Wednesday.
Negotiators from the United States, Egypt and Qatar reached an agreement in Paris last weekend on a framework to stop the war. The meeting was also attended by the heads of the Israeli regime’s spy agencies, Mossad and Shin Bet.
Hamas has not taken the decision yet its political bureau chief ismail Haniyeh said that the movement would welcome any serious and practical plan and initiative on the condition that leads to the complete cessation of war, reconstruction of Gaza and lifting of the siege and the release of Palestinian prisoners.
