North Korea's Central News Agency said that Japan is determined to acquire long-range missiles regardless of the dangerous consequences of this action.
“Japan has become the worst threatening country in the region”, KCNA was quoted by the Japan Broadcasting Corporation, also known as NHK.
The report also severely criticized the United States for providing Tomahawk cruise missiles to Japan, calling it part of Washington's hegemonic strategy against North Korea, China, and Russia.
The Japanese Ministry of Defense signed a contract last month for the purchase of 400 American Tomahawk cruise missiles.
Tokyo has described the deal as part of the country’s efforts to boost counterattack capabilities against hostile forces, an indirect reference to North Korea and China.
Pyongyang remain at odd over Tokyo’s growing nexus with Washington and Seoul and their joint wargames on the Korean Peninsula.
North Korea has recently launched a number of cruise missiles after test-firing ballistic missiles, including IBMs late last year in a show of strength against UK policies in the region, which Pyongyang says, is making war “inevitable”.
