-- Tehran, Moscow discuss accelerating Rasht-Astara railway construction

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari and Russian officials conferred on ways to resolve the existing obstacles to the construction of the Rasht-Astara railway.
Safari, who is in Moscow to attend the first meeting of BRICS representatives in 2024, in separate meetings on Thursday met and held talks with Russian presidential aide Igor Levitin and Deputy Minister of Transport Dmitry Zverev.

--  Domestic petchem industry promoting cooperation with foreigners

The cooperation between Iran’s petrochemical sector and the foreign companies has increased remarkably during the past two years, an official said.
CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) of Iran, Morteza Shahmirzaei, said the Iranian petrochemical industry has made great progress despite the cruel sanctions imposed by the US and the Western governments. The petrochemical industry’s current production capacity in Iran stands at above 92 million tons, Shahmirzaei added.

--  Raisi: Downstream industry, value chain completion to increase value added

Iran’s President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi said on Thursday the completion of downstream industry and value chain enhances raw materials with added value.
Addressing a ceremony to start the operation of 157 oil and energy projects during his second visit to the southern province of Hormuzgan, the president said the country sustains a major loss by selling raw materials.

-- Pakistan Says Determined to Confront Terrorism With Iran

Pakistani Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra has emphasized that Tehran and Islamabad have a strong determination to encounter threat of terrorism as a common challenge facing the two neighbors.
During her weekly press conference in Islamabad on Thursday, Zahra referred to Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian’s recent visit at the head of a high-ranking delegation to Pakistan, saying that Iran’s foreign minister held constructive talks with his Pakistani counterpart, prime minister, and army commander.

--  Imam Khomeini’s Homecoming Anniversary Marked

Iranians on Thursday started Ten-Day Dawn celebrations, marking the 45th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, which put an end to the ruling of the US-backed Pahlavi regime in Iran.
Thursday marked the anniversary of homecoming of the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini. The Imam arrived back home from exile at 9:27 a.m. local time on February 1, 1979.
He spent more than 14 years in exile, mostly in the Iraqi holy city of Najaf. He also spent some time in Turkey and France before returning to Iran.

-- Iran kicks off construction of new nuclear plant

 Iran has begun to build a new nuclear power plant in the southern coastal province of Hormozgan with an investment of $15 billion, according to the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI).

During a visit to the Hormozgan province, Mohammad Eslami, at the behest of Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi, announced the commencement of construction of the new nuclear plant in Hormozgan. 

--  Raisi inaugurates 157 industrial, energy projects in Hormozgan

- Following a series of trips to various provinces, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi visited Hormozgan Province in southern Iran on Thursday for the second time during his tenure to meet with provincial officials, follow up on under-way projects and inaugurate several new projects.

As Mehr News Agency reported, during the trip President Raisi, who was accompanied by some of his cabinet members and their deputies, was welcomed by the province’s people and officials and inaugurated several major projects.

--  IHiT showcasing technological capabilities

Iran House of Innovation and Technology (iHiT) was established two years ago with the aim of showcasing the country’s capabilities in the field of technology. It runs under the management of the Center of International Science and Technology Cooperation (CISTC), a subsidiary of the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology.

This center was set up to serve as a foundation for increasing scientific, technological, and innovative communications with other countries, as well as securing a significant share of the regional and global trade of knowledge-based products.
